Production Planner and Floor Supervisor

Job Summary: The Production Planner and Floor Supervisor is responsible for planning and implementing product production to meet forecasted product demand at quality specifications. This includes procuring all components from raw materials to packaging while directing a team in order to provide finished product to ship to customers.

This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer and supervises the manufacturing team that produces finished goods.  The Production Planner and Floor Supervisor works closely with the Human Resource Manager to understand and enforce organizational policies while maintaining a thriving team environment.

The Production Planner and Floor Supervisor handles overall updates to manufacturing from process documentation, training, and improvement to machine procurement, maintenance, and function. Increased automation for scalability is a current objective at hydra.

The Production Planner and Floor Supervisor completes an annual inventory and keeps materials and products fully stocked.

Responsibilities:

  • Manufacturing Management

    • Deliver finished goods within agreed budget, schedule and quality standards

    • Design and implement plan and budget for the effective use of resources to achieve manufacturing target forecast

    • Procure raw materials, packaging, and equipment required for manufacturing; develop relationships and negotiate with vendors to keep supply chain flowing within agreed quality and cost parameters. Manage and maintain inventory for all components

    • Manage production team

      • Keep production employees safe and on-task; Ensure that manufacturing operations are in compliance with health and safety standards

      • Match team hours and capabilities to company needs and future planning

      • Be accessible to direct and answer questions for the manufacturing team during work hours

      • Improves and enforces policies to align with company objectives and multicultural skilled manufacturing team

    • Tracking and communication

      • Enter production batches into Zoho (computer software)

      • Keep order tracking system updated with estimated timelines on product availability

    • Analyze and provide solutions to manufacturing processes or problems

    • Implement and document processes, and innovate to improve production quality and efficiency

    • Research, procure, and maintain production equipment and machines to ensure efficient production

    • Increase automation

 

Qualifications:

  • Highly organized; Able to prioritize effectively and manage multiple types of projects at once

  • Creative problem solver, ability to research formulations, machines, processes, vendors

  • Good communicator

  • Strong negotiator

  • Good understanding of mechanical functions and processes (to operate and maintain equipment, problem solve for small repairs or to engage outside technical services for complex or dangerous issues)

  • Team management

  • Physical ability to operate forklift (forklift certification preferred but not required)

  • English proficiency

  • Manufacturing experience
